Terms & Conditions

  1. All persons ("the entrants") entering the DGB (Proprietary) Limited Competition ("the promotional competition") agree that the competition rules as set out in these terms and conditions are binding on them. A copy of these terms and conditions is available at 

  2. Important notice:
    2.1. These terms and conditions and competition rules contain certain terms and conditions which appear in a similar text style to this clause and which:
    2.1.1. may limit the risk or liability of the promoter or a third party; and/or
    2.1.2. may create risk or liability for the entrant; and/or
    2.1.3. may compel the entrant to indemnify the promoter or a third party; and/or
    2.1.4. serves as an acknowledgement, by the entrant, of a fact.  
    2.1.5. the entrant cannot be a juristic entity and must be an individual;

    2.2. The entrant's attention is drawn to these terms and conditions because they are important and should be carefully noted. 

    2.3. Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit, or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the entrant or the promoter in terms of the South African Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 ("the CPA"). 

    2.4. The entrant acknowledges that by submitting his or her entry to the competition he/she has been given an appropriate opportunity to first read these terms and conditions before entering and that he/she understands and agrees to the terms and conditions.

    2.5. All entrants to this promotional competition participate entirely at their own risk.  By reading and accepting these terms and conditions, the entrant gives consent to these risks and hereby indemnifies and holds harmless the promoters, DGB (Pty) Ltd their directors, employees and agents of any and all liability pertaining to any damage, cost, injuries and losses of whatever nature sustained as a result of their participation in the competition and related events and activities, save where such damage, cost, injuries and losses are sustained as a result of the gross negligence or wilful misconduct of any indemnified party.

    2.6    Applicable Liquor Laws of South Africa will apply.


  3. The promotional competition is valid from 1 February 2024 until 31 May 2024. Entries close at midnight CAT on 31 May 2024. No late entries will be considered.

  4. The competition is open to all except the following:
    4.1. any director, member, partner, employee of DGB(Pty)Ltd or any director, member, partner, employee of any company forming part of the DGB(Pty)Ltd group of companies, 
    4.2. any agent of, or consultant to DGB (Pty) Ltd who are the promoters of the competition, 
    4.3. any suppliers, service providers, or contractors of DGB (Pty) Ltd, being a supplier of goods or services in connection with the competition,
    4.4. any spouse, partner, sibling, parent, or child of any of the above.


  5. Competition entry requirements for the Prize:
    5.1.1. To be entered into the draw for the Prize in an off-trade context, a single bottle of any Backsberg Wine (from the Fifth Generation, Family Tree or Patriarch ranges) must be purchased by way of a single transaction at a participating outlet, on or before the closing date of the competition.

    5.1.2. To be entered into the draw for the Prize in an on-trade context, a glass or single bottle of any Backsberg Wine (from the Fifth Generation, Family Tree or Patriarch ranges) must be purchased by way of a single transaction at a participating outlet, on or before the closing date of the competition.
    5.1.3. When purchasing via the Backsberg Online Store, a minimum case order is applicable. 1 x case of 6 bottles = 6 entries. 1 x case of 3 bottles = 3 entries.
    5.2. A customer shall receive one entry to the competition per one glass/one bottle of Backsberg wine purchased. If multiple units i.e. more than 1 bottle of Backsberg Wine are purchased and displayed on one till receipt, the entrant will receive one entry, per one bottle/glass.
    5.3. Upon completion of a transaction that qualifies for entry to the competition, a customer will need to retain their till slip.

    5.5. The customer must fill in all mandatory information fields for the entry to be valid.


The Prize:

6.1. The Prize is for 2 (two) persons and a 12 (twelve) night stay at the below participating outlets for a self-driven trip around South Africa including luxury luggage and high-end tech to the value of R200,000.00 and comprises the following:

6.1.1. Flights from major city centres including King Shaka International Airport KwaZulu-Natal and O.R. Thambo International Airport Johannesburg. If the recipient resides in Cape Town, flights to the starting point will not be included. The airline(s) to be used will be determined by DGB (Pty) Ltd. Transport to and from the respective major airports to take up the prize is not included.

6.1.2. Rental car and insurance on the vehicle for the duration of the trip

6.1.3. Luxury luggage from Thandana Bags to the value of R20,000

6.1.4. A GoPro HERO12 Black Creator Edition to the value of R18,000

6.1.5. A MacBook Air (Dark Grey only) to the value of R18,000

6.1.6. Two (2) nights’ accommodation in the Franschhoek Valley inclusive of dinner, bed, and breakfast. Includes a visit to Backsberg Family Wines’ cellar door. Exceeding the value of R5,000 and capped at R7,000 dependent on seasonal rates and accommodation availability. 

6.1.7. A zipline canopy tour with Cape Canopy Tours in the Elgin Valley to the value of R2,290.00.

6.1.8. One (1) night’s accommodation at Old Mac Daddy, Elgin inclusive of dinner, bed, and breakfast in an Airstream Trailer Suite to the value of R3,300.

6.1.9. Two (2) nights’ accommodation at The Thatch Boutique Hotel, Hermanus inclusive of dinner, bed, and breakfast to the value of R12,000.

6.1.10. Two (2) nights’ accommodation at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve, Gansbaai inclusive of nature walks, full-board dining, horseback riding and curated private experiences to the value of R65,000.

6.1.11. Two (2) nights’ accommodation in a Deluxe Tented Suite at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve, Little Brak Rivier inclusive of dinner, bed and breakfast, game drives on each day of stay and a Fynbos Spa Experience for two to the value of R22,000.

6.1.12. A Lagoon Boat Cruise and Oyster Wine Tour aboard Knysna Charters to the value of R1,500.

6.1.13. One (1) night’s accommodation at Pezula Nature Retreat, Knysna inclusive of dinner, bed, and breakfast to the value of R6,500.

6.1.14. Two (2) nights’ accommodation at the Sky Villa Boutique Hotel, Plettenberg Bay inclusive of dinner, bed, and breakfast to the value of R9,000. 

6.1.15. One (1) night’s accommodation at the Hawthorn Boutique Hotel, George inclusive of dinner, bed, and breakfast to the value of R5,000. 


6.2. To be eligible to win the Prize, entrants must be a natural person residing in South Africa, be in possession of a valid ID, Driver’s Licence and must be 18+ years of age.

6.3. In addition, and in order to claim their Prize, the potential Prize winner will be required to provide proof of residency in South Africa, copies of a valid ID document and South African Driver’s Licence.

6.4. The Prize will be drawn during the month of June, and the potential winner will be randomly selected by an independent third party.

6.5. The potential winner will be notified by email, on the email address that was used to enter the competition, if their name has been drawn to win the Prize.

6.6. The departure date of the trip is subject to availability and may not be redeemed over key festive periods, public holidays or peak seasonal periods. The recipient is to allow 6 weeks prior to the starting date of departure on confirmation of acceptance dates to plan the trip. DGB (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to change the prize or participating accommodation outlets due to any unforeseen circumstances.

6.7. The prize excludes:

6.7.1. Beverages and additional dining experiences not mentioned above
6.7.2. Gratuities throughout the trip

6.7. 3. Additional transfers 

6.7.2. Airline seat assignments

6.7.3. Excess baggage charges

6.7.4. Laundry services 

6.7.5. All items of a personal nature 

6.7.6. Travel insurance

6.7.7. Items not included on regular menus

6.7.8. Expenses for additional sightseeing activities not included in the itinerary

6.7.9. Personal injury, health, or baggage losses 

7. The Prize is not transferrable and is not exchangeable for cash, either in whole or in part.


8. The images of the Prize shown are for illustrative purposes only and may not be a true representation of the Prize.

9. General:

9.1 Anyone who has been notified that they are a potential winner may claim their Prize by contacting 

DGB (Pty) Ltd by way of emailing Bianca Lenhardt at  

9.2. If a potential winner cannot be contacted after three attempts are made within 3 (three) days of the 

draw, and/or the potential winner does not produce the documentation required to claim their Prize, within 10 (ten) days of being notified that they are a potential winner, or such longer period to which DGB (Pty) Ltd may agree, then the potential winner will forfeit the Prize and another potential winner will be randomly drawn to replace them.

9.3. The potential winner will need to commit to the Prize, based on the travel dates as determined by 

DGB (Pty) Ltd once a potential winner is drawn, within 2 (two) weeks of being notified that they are a potential winner.

9.4. The prize will need to be redeemed within 6 (six) months of confirmation of travel dates.

9.5. The results of the competition will be published on the microsite

9.6. DGB (Pty) Ltd’s decision is final, in the event that any dispute arises with regards to the 

competition, and no correspondence will be entered into.

9.7. DGB (Pty) Ltd provides no warranties in relation to the Prize. Should the Prize or any part thereof 

be found to be deficient, the winner may direct any such claim against the service provider in 

question for consideration.

9.8. By entering this competition, the winner agrees to participate in such promotional activities related 

to the competition as DGB (Pty) Ltd may reasonably require, unless expressly declined by the 

winner in writing. 

9.9. The winner is encouraged, with reasonable expectation, to share their prize and experience on 

social media to enhance awareness.

9.10. By entering the competition, entrants acknowledge that DGB (Pty) Ltd may collect personal 

  information about them, which they provide when they enter the competition. DGB (Pty) Ltd 

  undertakes not to sell or share this information to any third party but may disclose the information     

  if required by law to do so; or to participating outlets for the purposes of securing accommodation,   

  eatery, and activity reservations on the part of the winner in terms of organisational logistics   

  surrounding the redemption of the prize.

9.11. The competition is conducted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa and 

  should any of the competition rules be deemed void or unenforceable, then that rule will be  

  deemed to be deleted and the remaining rules will remain in force.

9.12. DGB (Pty) Ltd reserve the right to amend the competition rules at their reasonable discretion  

  should they consider this appropriate before the competition closes and any such amendment(s)    

  shall be posted on the website

9.13. By taking part in this competition, each entrant acknowledges his/her understanding of and agrees 

  to comply with each of the competition rules set out above.

9.14. In the event that the prize booking or any portion of it arises in cancellation, this will need to be    

         received in writing. It will be effective on the date of receipt.

9.15. In the event of your withdrawal from the trip after commencement for reasons of illness, we regret         

that no refunds can be made for absences from the trip, including but not limited to missed meals or sightseeing.


1. "Operator" means an operator as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013;

2. "Personal Information" means personal information as defined in the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013;

3. Protection of Personal Information

You hereby authorise all participating accommodation and activity partners to collect your Personal Information as it is relevant to this Agreement and/or service which we are providing for you or is deemed to be relevant for the provision of such service.
